Exciting things are underway in Manatee County as the dream of the Fort Hamer bridge comes closer to reality!
Last week, Manatee County Commission awarded Johnson Brothers Corp. a $32.7 million construction contract. The construction company submitted a bid with a 630 day calendar of expected completion and the lowest dollar amount received by the county out of seven competing bids.
The result is a Public Works department that's excited to begin work on this highly anticipated project. Building is expected to start March 16th, spanning the Manatee River and connecting Upper Manatee River Road to Fort Hamer Road. The addition of the bridge will create a more direct route from Parrish and The Islands into Lakewood Ranch.
