Among the many desirable features of The Islands on the Manatee River is the community's immediate access to water. Private backyard boat docks provide the ultimate boating lifestyle, including sport fishing in the Gulf and fly-fishing in the Manatee.
They're also a great spot from which to launch your kayak or paddleboard or watch the sunset's mirrored splendor. The River Lodge, a comfortable waterfront gathering place for residents, is equipped with community docks and a boat launch, as well as fire pits, barbecues, putting green, and a bocce ball court.
What's new?
The Islands has two boating entrances. On the west end of The Islands, the newly open cut in Channelside Harbor, gives residents a shorter direct route to local riverfront restaurants, the downtown waterfront, and the Gulf of Mexico. The main cut at the eastern end of The Islands, provides residents with an abundance of recreational opportunities with the Fort Hamer Park and Hidden Harbor Park adjacent to the gated entrance to The Islands on the Manatee River.
Waterside Dining
One of the perks of living in a boating community on the Manatee River is the ability to dock and dine at the many restaurants along the waterfront. One such restaurant is Whiskey Joe's Bar & Grill.
With its own beach and a full service dine-in or take-out experience, Whiskey Joe's serves island-inspired cuisine, tiki cocktails, and amazing views. There is plenty to love about Whiskey Joe's and all the dining options along the Manatee River.
