In fact, Lakewood Ranch has done such an excellent job of interspersing man-made areas with natural ones that it now boasts of being the largest green master-planned community in the United States. Residents and neighbors alike can enjoy running, hiking, biking, or otherwise wandering along over 150-miles of trails along lakes, parks, and other natural preservation areas. Bring out your canoe or boat and enjoy a lazy Saturday fishing and boating on Heron Lake and Summerfield Lake. Those with a more adventurous side will enjoy Lakewood Ranch's exciting inline skating track, sports fields (including one purposed for horse polo), gun club and range, and gorgeous golf course. ### **Enjoy All the Above and More at The Islands** Thanks to the opening of the Fort Hamer bridge residents of the Islands at Manatee River can partake in all aforementioned Lakewood Ranch amenities and more while still enjoying the privacy and serenity of their own waterfront property. Additionally, you have your own upgrade options at the Islands on Manatee River. Here, you'll have access to your own private community, River Lodge with a catering kitchen, outdoor fire pit & barbecue areas, and community dock and launching area where collegiate rowing teams train during season.
