Florida's Railroad Museum is located in Parrish, and it offers several unique, hands-on opportunities to learn about the state's rich railroad history. Diesel train trips operate twice a day on most Saturdays and Sundays, and you can also reserve a party caboose for a small party or an entire train for larger events. And if you've always wanted to operate a locomotive, the museum gives you the opportunity to do just that. You'll receive hands-on training and then will be able to operate the controls for an hour.
River Wilderness Golf and Country Club
This gated semi-private golf and boating community borders the North Shore of the Manatee River. Although River Wilderness is situated just a few minutes from I-75, its setting is gorgeous and secluded, with plenty of natural wildlife. The golf course is enhanced by lakes and wooded areas, with a challenging yet fair layout. The spacious Athletic Center offers the opportunity to play tennis, swim, or work out.
